Ahmet CİNGÖZ, PhD
Principle Investigator
Dr. Ahmet Cingöz is a distinguished graduate of the Department of Biology at Istanbul University. He continued his academic journey by obtaining his M.Sc. in Medical Biochemistry from Marmara University, followed by a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from Koç University in 2019. During his doctoral studies, Dr. Cingöz conducted impactful research in the Center for Stem Cell and Translational Immunotherapy at Harvard Medical School, focusing on targeted therapies for brain cancer in animal models. Subsequently, Dr. Cingöz embarked on his postdoctoral research at the Brain Cancer Research and Therapy Laboratory within the Koç University Research Center for Translational Medicine (KUTTAM). Here, he focused his expertise on understanding therapy-resistant brain cancer and refining animal models to advance our comprehension of this challenging medical condition.
Cingöz Lab is dedicated to advancing our understanding of tumor metabolism and developing models to address therapy resistance. Our primary goal is to unravel the intricate link between the metabolic processes of cancer cells and their resistance to therapy. Furthermore, our research delves into the complexities of tumor heterogeneity and clonal dynamics. To achieve these objectives, our lab employs a multifaceted approach, integrating various techniques such as in vitro experiments, in vivo studies, and advanced bioinformatics methods in the field of cancer research.
The laboratory’s research is centered around two fundamental questions:
1) What governs therapy resistance in malignant brain cancers?
2) How cellular metabolism change in therapy resistance development?
The Cingöz Lab is funded by Bezmialem Vakif University BILSAB and major national and international agencies.
